Green Line

I was reading The Globe and Mail editorial today "Israel's security fence doesn't trump justice" and one thing really jumped out at me (besides the patronizing sneering). This obsession with the "Green Line". The Green Line was not the original mandate for the Jewish State, it has never been the border of Israel. The Green Line was the all the territory the State of Israel could successfully defend by the time a ceasefire was negotiated with various Arabs via the UN in 1949.

Even UN Resolutions from the Six Days War period do not call for a total Israeli withdrawal from all land occupied after June 1967, but it does call for Israeli withdrawal to secure recognizable borders to be negotiated. The UN resolutions do not specify a return to the "Green Line".

A two state solution will never work until the Arabs give up their pathological hatred of the Jews/Zionists. If the Arab Street was really concerned for the welfare of the Palestinians, the Palestinians would have their State in 1948, the War of Independence, the Six Days War, the Yom Kippur War would never have happened, and even after 1973, the opportunity came around again and again, most recently in the US backed Road Map to Peace. Same old pathological hatred, same old stateless state, same all delusional thinking. The only state the Palestinians want is the Jewish State. Nothing more, nothing less. I say its time we end the madness for once and for all. I call for a UN Resolution to end the occupation of Jewish Lands.
