Charge Michael Moore??!!

A group of campus conservatives have banded together and created an online petition to present to Elections Canada to have Michael Moore charged for his comments in June 2004 urging Canadians to vote for the Fiberal party of Canada and not the Conservative party.

The Canada Elections Act states:

Part 11, Division 9, section 331 of the Canada Elections Act, it is an offence for "[Any] person who does not reside in Canada [to], during an election period, in any way induce electors to vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate unless the person is (a) a Canadian citizen; or (b) a permanent resident."

It is heartening to see that not all university students have fallen hook, line and sinker for the leftist bias that is so prevalent in Canadian academia.

This law is representative of State Nannism at  its worst.  A law that was passed by what political party Mr. Moore and Mr. Nader?

But the students really have not gone as far as they should have. In the interests of fairness and equality, Ralph Nader, US Presidential Candidate and the CBC should be charged as well.  Ralph Nader sent an "Open Letter to Canadians" to the CBC urging Canadians not to vote for the Conservative Party of Canada.  The CBC should be charged for publishing and distributing that letter to Canadians.

Canadian Campus Conservatives have a responsibility to be not only fair,  but seen to be fair.
