Al Qaeda Strikes in Jerusalem?

Debkafile is reporting this tidbit but I caution everyone to hold his or her thoughts and comments on it for another 24-30 hours. I really like the Debkafile and often the reporting is outstanding but there are times when the reporting is a little too far out there - even for me.

Al-Qaeda-Palestinian has claimed the knifing attack in which Shmuel Matt, a 21-year old British citizen, died in the Old City of Jerusalem Wednesday night. August 25, 2005, 6:20 PM (GMT+02:00) Three other yeshiva students were stabbed by the same assailant. Al Qaeda published two communiqués claiming the attack from its newly-established Gaza base. Matt attended the Mir Yeshiva. A second badly injured student, an American citizen, made it to the police station to summon help. Fellow students later demonstrated to protest the Jerusalem police failure to protect Jews passing through the Old City.

The ramifications of this one are immense if this story pans out as an Al Qaeda attack launched by a cell based in either Gaza or the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula.
