Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will be investigated in his Jerusalem office on Friday by police's Fraud Investigation Unit, according to a Channel 2 report Thursday night. The hastily-scheduled meeting was enabled after police received special authorization from Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz to summon Olmert within 48 hours. It is not entirely out of the realm of ordinary to think this investigation may represent a 4th separate criminal matter – this is Ehud Olmert after all.
It was not clear which investigation the surprise questioning was related to. Two criminal investigations and one preliminary police probe are currently open against the prime minister.
