How to undermine the War on Terror: Bankroll the Terrorists

Caroline Glick in her Column One: A World Gone Mad raises a very valid point that I simply cannot answer in any rational way:
It would seem that the world has gone mad. Israel's security is being systematically undermined by its own government and the US-led international community. At this point it seems that the Sharon-Peres government is engaged in a perverse competition with the Bush administration to determine who can come up with the most deranged counter-terror policy.

Last week it was reported that the US has given the Palestinian Authority $4.4 million dollars to pay the salaries of terrorists from Fatah's Al Aksa Brigades. For its part, the terror group showed its gratitude to the US by becoming the first Palestinian terror organization to publicly endorse Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad's call for Israel to be "wiped off the map."

Surely the Bush Adminstration is not attempting to pick up any financial slack from the Mullahs & Company, and is it really necessary to offer Al Aksa Martyr’s Brigade bomb-gap financing? If one truly believes that one can buy off the terrorists why not offer Osama bin Linden a job as Islamic Liaison Outreach Coordinator to the United States?

Kateland, This is probably the work of our State Dept., which has a fetish for "The Middle East Peace Process". The death of Arafat means they they need to "go acourtin'" for a new murdering thug. Candy is dandy, but cash is a lot quicker. On the other hand, this could be a very clever plot by the Bush administration to bring the PA under the umbrella of the War On Terror. You know what they say,"Give them enough rope . . ." As to OBL as Islamic Liaison, be careful - the Democratic Party is looking for an idea. Unfortunately, any idea will do.

I don't know why the US seems to want to bend over backwards to appear fair and non-judgemental by pretending that money isn't financing terror.
And Israel of late seems almost afraid to be vocal in defence of itself.
Is it all for the sake of appearances on the world stage?

It probably is. Israel is land without friends surrounded by enemies, without the support of the United States there is simply no one that would possibly come to her aid if her enemies decided to mount another wide scale attack.

Israel concedes bit by bit its safety to appease their American friends. The Americans require the Israeli appeasement to use as coin to buy support among the EU and Arab nations for its own national interests.

I am more afraid of the existential threat to Israel's existence today than at any other point in its history.
