Resolving the status of Jerusalem will be tough, he said, and he called for the end of the "occupation" of Arab land by the Israeli military.
Of course that wasn't all Bush called for.
At the same time, Bush reiterated that any viable Palestinian state must be "contiguous," saying Palestinians deserve better than a "Swiss cheese" state.
But the reality of establishing a second Palestinian state with contiguous land mass requires Israel to sacrifice Zion and become the Swiss Cheese state. So if it is unacceptable to the Palestinians; why does Bush believe Israel should be raped into it? Caroline Glick provides one such answer.

Yeah, right. And he is going to solve the conflict within a year.
I just wish American presidents focused a little more on their own country's problems rather than hunting for eternal glory of solving the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Particularly so that the conflict is a non-issue in global terms. Less than 100 thousand people died in over a century of Arab-Israeli "warfare" vs several hundred thousand over a couple of years in Sudan.
Besides this meddling invariably leads to intifada Number n+1.
I am not an Isreali Citizen. I am an Indian and I found President Bush's speech to be impractical. I think his speech writers are either not familiar with the ground realities or they are purposely setting up Mr.Bush for failure.
