I don’t know how many times I have to write this. But once again for the record: I do not have a penis nor am I an angry white male. I may write from a more conservative viewpoint but that does not mean that I have suddenly sprouted testes beside my ovaries. The only balls I ever had were brass ones. For frack’s sake, I am not some angry white male poser in drag hiding behind a computer screen.
Why do lefties and liberals maintain that there are no female conservative voices of note in the blogsphere – even in the Canadian blogsphere? And why almost down to the last woman blogging do they continue to propagate this myth that conservative right wing bloggers are all angry white males? I am so bleeding tired of liberal pundits suggesting that my voice and my readership are irrelevant to any discussion of discourse in the Canadian political blogsphere because I am a conservative female blogger; ergo, I don’t exist. Is there a litmus test of blog femininity that not only did I not know about - but I somehow managed to unknowingly fail? If that isn’t the politics of sexism - what is?
I have never met the other Kate (of Small Dead Animals) or Lisa (of The London Fog) or Canadianna, but I have met Kathy Shaidle and Girl on the Right but there is not a penis in the lot. But there are far more quality conservative female voices out there churning out punditry everyday then you allow for in the narrow confides of your liberal belief system. And here’s a tip – we are all punching far beyond our weight, which is more than I can say for more than a few liberal girlie-man bloggers. Oh, and for the record, I owe more to Margaret Thatcher than I do to women’s lib.

You'll be pleased to know the answer to why "almost down to the last woman blogging they continue to propagate this myth" can be found buried somewhere in the Trudeaupia archives. A woman can be anything except Conservative.
Good post. I was inspired to weigh in here.
I haven't had a chance to learn your points of view yet, but your writing rocks. Even though you don't have a penis, I think I could still like you.
I have found several women conservatives blogging and they are all quite good to excellent. I don't get it.
I haven't found much in the way of Liberal blogs worthy of note.
I suppose that might be because they really don't have have much of a point to make.
I mean, how long can you be interested in someone's feelings before you start to crave a fact or two.
Go girl.
Duke
Duke, your point would be taken except that this is a post about hurt feelings and without a single substantiating fact. Where is the evidence that "lefties and liberals maintain that there are no female conservative voices of note in the blogsphere"?
Ann Coulter? Not a blogger, but a serious feminine conservative.
Lefty - I provided the link - click liberal girlie man
I'm glad to have found you via SDA. I myself am familiar with plenty of smart, conservative women bloggers since starting up the Sentinel in September.
The left doesn't want to acknowledge the truth: that being female doesn't mean one must also be a leftist and a socialist. Then again, the left wishes to remain inside the tiny little box it creates for itself, beyond which the world at large doesn't exist for them.
I'd love it if Condi Rice becomes president. She's my kinda woman!
I'll have to remember to add you to my blogroll next time I get around to tinkering with my sidebar.
In the meantime...
Let's roll! Right over the Libranos! Turn 'em into a big red pancake!
Well what can I say. I am conservative minded and do have a penis. I linked here from SDA, where Kate McMillan has shown what this country of ours is missing, more strong female voices. The fact that she also rides a bike has nothing to do with it, well maybe. Another is Tasha Kheiriddin, who lately has been posting at Macleans. A keen mind worthy of reading. Thought I would add a testicled opinion.
Now you gotta check out the punch of libertarian women ;). I bet we could have you ranking right up there with the best of libertarian chicks, too.
Check out Sunni Maravilosa, Kirsten of "Enjoy Every Sandwich, Wendy McElroy, and some others I have for the moment, forgotten.
Personally, I could give a rat's ass about your plumbing. I'm only interested in the quality of your blog.
No kateland, you've provided a link to a (lefty) female blogger who quotes a (lefty/liberal) white male blogger who says that bloggers are "overwhelmingly" white, male and conservative and you have not provided any evidence otherwise. You might as well save some of your hurt feelings for conservative bloggers, lefty liberals aren't the only one's noticing the gender imbalance.
Lefty, what would satisfy your needs? Another government grant or a royal commission to investigate and study the issue paid for by the most oppressed group in Canada - (aka as taxpayers)? You remind me of a story I use to read to my son. It was called "If you give a moose a muffin" and the moral was the moose would never be satisfied no matter what he was given because if it was for free -he'd keep wanting more. If you gave him a muffin, he'd then ask for butter, and if you gave him butter, then he would ask for jam, and so on, and so on - do you see where I am going here? So take the hint, go google or whatever, but do it on your own dime.
Just give me a muffin. When I ask for evidence that "lefties and liberals maintain that there are no female conservative voices of note in the blogsphere" all I ask that you point me to one lefty or liberal who maintains that there are no female conservative voices of note in the blogosphere. Hold the butter.
Regarding the iron lady, the conversations used to go like this:
Left: There are no women in power.
Right: How about Margaret Thatcher?
Left: She's not really a women.
Thanks so much for your post!! I'm a new conservative canadian female blogger and have found solace in reading strong females that actually think like me. Taking Sociology in school, my opinion of always in the minority but in the blogosphere I feel strong because of my fellow right-wing ladies.
