Am I the only one

Who does not care if John Edwards screwed around on his wife and then lied about it? I can understand caring if you were the Mrs. Edwards or even the 'mistress' but why is this receiving such tremendous air play on the news cable stations? Do Americans really believe Democratics don't commit infidelity?

Infidelity on the left is treated with a yawn, on the right it is taken as a window into the candidate's charachter. Edward's presented himself as a devoted family man, lied about his affair to the public, and made use of his wife's reoccurence of cancer on the campaign trail. You also have a series of payoffs that may have been funnelled through his campaign which may be illegal. He was in the running for VP or some other post, such as Attorney General. I personally have not blogged on Edwards, but I think the situation newsworthy. Add to that you have an MSM that was quite willing to publish the worst sort of innuendo about McCain and a lobbyist yet had a complete cone of silence on Edwards. There biased treatment is as much the story as Edwards.

GW, I grant you Edwards is newsworthy for about 5 minutes and a few columns of print but that was days ago and still the cable stations rage on. At the end of the day, what is Edwards? Nothing more than a two time loser for the democratic nomination for president and a failed Vice President candidate.

I don't know--I think more coverage is great. Let's just saturate the airwaves with how phony this guy actually is.

Because that's what it's about--phoniness, not infidelity. I do think the guy is a total louse for sleeping around on his wife, and his wife is a total louse for putting up with it (because she knew and still pretended everything was fine), but that's not the main point.

He built his brand on being trustworthy and fighting for the little guy. We conservatives always knew the $400 haircuts had gone to is brain, but it's good to know they migrated lower than that, too. And now so does everyone else.

So the next time someone claims to talk for the little guy, maybe people will start to question the words of the One who do indeed sound so phony.
