Talk about passing a buck!

Picture this. You are standing in line, patiently waiting for your turn at a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce ATM machine. Finally, it is your turn. You plug in your bank card, enter your pin number, hit the cash withdrawal button, plug in the amount, press okay. Hit the yes button after the CIBC machine informs you that you will be charged an extra $1.50 for using their machine. Then kaboom! Instead of receiving Canadian legal tender you get Canadian Tire Money! That is exactly what happened to a New Brunswick woman and the CIBC explained it this way:
Officials with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce believe the ATM dispensed 11 bills that were supposed to be real $20s but were instead Canadian Tire bills in denominations ranging from 10 cents to two dollars. It appears the Canadian Tire money came from a night deposit bag.

How anyone could confuse Canadian $20 bills and Canadian Tire Money is simply beyond my ability to comprehend. Only in Canada, only at the CIBC.

What a great story. Not so much for me the Canadian Tire money, but the fact they will charge you a buck-fifty to use their machine. I didn't notice the last fews times I've been home how much they charged. Here in Calif I'll drive an extra mile to use my own bank. They get you pretty good.

You don't know the half of it. What really turns on the screws is when I watch those Bank of America commericals - free chequing, free online banking, free statements, free interact withdrawals/deposits, heck, free deposits or withdrawals - what a concept!!!
