Snow in the Centre of the Universe

The big story from the Centre of the Universe is that it has snowed, well, it is still snowing.

The last time I checked, 24cms of snow had fallen with another 6-10 cms of snow expected to land before night fall. This is the view from my porch on a major downtown street. We have yet to see the snow plows hit the road.

In most parts of Canada this wouldn't be news worthy, except this is the Centre of the Universe, which only sees minimum snow. Last year at this time I was running around outside without gloves or my coat done up and not a snow flake in sight. Good thing I bought snow boots this year. The last time we had a major snow fall like this one was the late 90's and the Mayor had to ask for the army reserve to be deployed to dig out the city.

Even old man Winter will not stop me going to get my Timmy's coffee. ok I'm going to walk insead off driving. I love the photo outside your home can you take one at night for us. But I really don't want to go to work tomorrow ya you got to call me to keep me awake this week.

Yes the maryor did call in the army, but that snow storm we were not ready for. The city had sent all our plows and snow removeal trucks to Quebec to help them as they had the bad ice storm, The Army should help remvove snow they are getting paid to do what? protecting the boarders? or the local doughtshop? They don't even remove the snow around Moss Park Armoury you slip and slide as your tring to get by.

You think you've got snow in Toronto? It's nothing. I am just a bit further west and we've had most snow along the whole coastline...

I've cleaned the driveway and won't have to go to the gym tomorrow.

Shlemazl, you should know Toronto rarely has snow. I took this picture at noon and its nothing compared to what it was like by 6pm. I haven't been this pleased with the city for years. The Last Amazon and I went out for a Timmie's coffee after dinner and she had to help me over the snowbanks.

Shlemazl,

I don't mean to give you a hard time. My daughter is the Last Amazon. The Last Amazon is one of the nicknames I have for her. She can be this very intense, demanding and fierce young girl/woman. By the time she was 12 she had run her first biathlon, (shooting & cross country skiing) and had won a math/science scholarship to a private prep school - which is why she graduating this year from grade 12 but is only sixteen. We all sort of look at her in amazement…her father blamed me…but, well, I never maintained an average of 97 in physics. My mother and I decided long ago - she is who we want to be when we grow-up.

Originally, she was the one who started me blogging. She was interested in how I think and how I came to hold the view I do of the world. Sometimes I even sneak in a few family stories which she especially loves. We are a very loud family, and at times, it is impossible to hold a serious discussion.

She came up with the idea I would blog and then she would email me her comments on whatever I would chose to write about. It worked out well except she got bored long before I did but other people's sons, daughter's and grandparent's started to replace her emails. Hence, the history behind the name.

And are people there acting like the next ice age is upon them? Here in the land from which all federal political hot air comes you'd think that the end times were upon us, and he'd decided to do it with snow instead of fire..... all over 14" of snow.

But of course - this is Toronto and its always the end of times! I was out this afternoon, and of course, all anyone was talking about was the snow...amazing the number of people who mistakenly think the Centre of the Universe is closer to the equator than it is...too bad its not going to last. I like snow.
