I'll bet it has more to do with revenue than space. I priced flying my pup from Toronto to Calgary on AC. The price for a one way ticket in cargo? $657 plus the $150 to buy an AC 'approved' kennel. That's $410 more than a one way ticket for a person.
AC thinks they can make more money shipping pets cargo than they can going with regular flights. Sheesh.
BTW...for $800... the puppy came across by automobile.
I'd be betting this has a LOT to do with the size of their small planes. Their fleet of new and very small CRJ and Embraer's have trouble fitting golf bags, let alone a pet.

I guess my 3 cats won't fly. I never did get their religion beliefs, when I got them other than always hungry.
