Pre-Schoolers aka Brutal Occupiers

One of Yassir Arafat’s canards was that the firing of Kassam rockets was harmless. And I see the Toronto Star is doing their best to keep up the tradition of this canard alive even though Arafat is no longer with us. This is excerpt is taken from an alleged analysis concerning the capture of Corporal Shalit in today’s edition.
Though notoriously inaccurate, having caused not a single Israeli fatality since the September pullout from Gaza, the Qassams gave rise to harsh Israeli reprisals, including the firing of some 6,000 artillery rounds and a series of air strikes, several of them errant, causing a rash of civilian deaths last month
.
But the Toronto Star is not the only one claiming that the Kassams are relatively benign and have claimed no Israeli casualties. A few weeks ago the Hamas Mayor of Beit Hanun, Mohammad Kafarna, recently claimed the rockets are harmless. I suppose by their reasoning it is merely a symbolic weapon which has claimed a number of Israeli victims strictly by the merest accident.

Really the Toronto Star reporter (or reporters) who wrote this article needs to tell it to the parents and family of Afik Zahavi, 4, whose mother Ruth, lay in an Israeli hospital recovering from her injuries and was unable to attend his funeral. Ruth and Afik were engaged in conducting the brutal occupiers business of attending nursery school when a ‘harmless’ Kassam came charging from the sky. Then there is Mordechai Yosepov, who was just recently murdered by Qassam at age 49 in Sderot.

While the Toronto Star does point out that the weapons are inaccurate, the fatality rate is currently relatively low because of the Israeli building code, the Red Dawn warning system and the Grace of G-d and not from a lack of determination or intent from the Palestinian side. Kassams are inaccurate but a cheaply and easily made weapon of war which does not take a rocket scientist or even much technical savvy to produce. No doubt my youngest, Isaiah Sender at 12, wouldn’t have much of a problem creating one with the minimum input by myself but benign they are not.
