Canadian Peacemakers

I really want to be sympathetic towards the Canadians who are being held hostage in Iraq by the Sword of the Righteousness Brigade. I really do, but it’s hard for me to empathize with the willfully deluded. I don’t wish these hostages ill but, geeze, didn’t anyone pay attention to what happened to Nick Berg? He went to Iraq to improve the daily life of Iraqis too. It didn’t work out that well for him and countless others. In fact, for Nick Berg’s efforts he was beheaded.

The depth and arrogance of these people who think because they have noble intentions and have included the word peacemaker as part of the name of their organization exempts them from the same fate of all those who have gone before them just floors me. Contrary to Michael Moore and countless others of like minded souls, these people are not the Minuteman circa 2005. The only misunderstanding is by the peacemakers who think that the captors would choose peace rather than a videotaped beheading.
